Edward S. Curtis - An Assiniboin Lodge - Vintage Photogravure - Volume, 9.5 x 12.5 inches - In this image an Assiniboin tipi rests on the shore of a river. A Native woman is bending over to stake the tipi and finish its construction. Tipis were easily portable so the people could move around for the change of seasons or to follow the buffalo. There is another tipi in the background that is only the under layer of wooden poles without the buffalo skin outer layer. This photogravure was taken by Edward S.
