For nomadic tribes such as the Atsina, having a travois was essential in the moving of goods from camp to camp. This picture by photographer Edward Curtis depicts a woman creating the sled like structure called a travois. She will then use this to cart her tipi, household goods, and more when the tribe moves to follow the bison. This photogravure was taken in 1908 by Edward S. Curtis.
