The sweat lodge ceremony was very important to the Cheyenne tribes. This image taken by Edward S. Curtis depicts a number of Cheyenne in robes departing from one of the sweat lodges likely for ceremonial purposes. The image was printed for The North American Indian volume VI on Dutch Van Gelder paper. Printed in 1909 by photographer Edward S. Curtis, this piece is now available for sale in our Aspen Art Gallery.
