In this scene of an author’s camp multiple tipis and structures are situated in a hilly area. There are many spoken men on horseback observing the area. Curtis’ writing is still to this day the largest ethnographic study of the Native American Indians. That is not to say that he did all of the writing himself, he had many assistants as well as interpreters and field workers to help him. This photogravure as taken by Edward S.
