Little Powder River is in what is present day southeastern Montana and Wyoming territories. Known for the Battle of Little Powder River in 1865 an attack on a Cheyenne camp where the Natives though outnumbered defeated the cavalry. This image by photographer Edward Curtis displays a young Arapaho woman on the edge of the river. She is wearing a long patterned dress and looks down away from the camera.

This photogravure was taken in 1911 by Edward S. Curtis. The piece was printed on Deluxe Japanese Tissue and is available for sale in out Aspen Art Gallery.
