This photogravure by Edward Curtis depicts a warrior of the Klamath tribe with a long headdress and traditional clothing (deerskin suit). The warrior is looking off into the beautiful Crater Lake located in southern Oregon. The tribe may have witnessed Crater Lake’s beginning, as a violent volcanic eruption created the beautiful scene. The lake is a park of a national park today and is the deepest in the United States.

This incredible scene was photographed by Edward S. Curtis in 1923 and is printed on Deluxe Japanese Tissue. The piece is available for sale in our Aspen Art Gallery.
