Plate 571 At the Old Well of Acoma
Portfolio: 18 x 22 inches
These young women are pictured collecting water on the rock of Acoma using beautiful earthen vessels. This specific spot was noted in 1540 by Coronado’s explorers as a place to collect snow and water. The soft ripples in the water, in contrast to the harsh and dominating rocks make a beautiful juxtaposition in this photogravure taken by Edward S Curtis.
