With the coming of winter the plains tribes pitched their camps in forested valleys, where they not only were protected from the fierce winds of the plains, but had an ample supply of fuel at hand. Found in Edward Curtis' volume III.
This image is printed on the finest quality Japanese Tissue in 1908. Showing just one tipi tucked into the forest to be away from the harsh winter elements. There is snow on the ground and one can almost feel the chill in the air.
