Plate 607 A Zuni Governor
Portfolio, 22 x 18 inches
This man appears to be of middle age and is considered a Zuni governor. His appearance is typical of Zuni people. He stares intently into the distance looking as if he is planning great things. He wears a dark brown blanket and a cloth headband. This photogravure was taken by Edward S. Curtis in 1926, nearing the end of his massive project, “The North American Indian”. Printed on Dutch Van Gelder Paper, this image is on display in our Aspen Art Gallery.
