In this picture by Edward Curtis an older man is using what is called a peyote drum. His hair has been braided and he is wearing elaborately fringed clothing as well as some jewelry. This photogravure was taken by Edward Curtis in 1927 and was printed to on Japon Vellum to be a part of his, “North American Indian” subscription set. It is now available at our Aspen Art Gallery.
