Plate 602 The Potter - Santa Clara
Portfolio, 22 x 18 inches
A young woman and potter sits quietly polishing her earthen vessel. The lighting is soft and serene giving the hard at work Santa Clara woman an ethereal look. For the task she uses tiny smooth pebbles found in small heaps near deposits of fossil bones, they are the stomach pebbles of dinosaurs. These tiny stones are highly prized and considered very bad luck to lose by the Tewa women.
