Plate 580 The Sentinel - San Ildefonso
Portfolio, 22 x 18 inches
The cliff dwelling people of Tewa were well set up for defense. They often had a watchman posted on a Cliffside to catch any oncoming danger. In this photogravure by Edward Curtis a man in loincloth looks over the edge of the rock to check for danger. The landscape is harsh desert and large clouds.
