Plate 554 Cochiti and Sia Pottery
Portfolio, 18 x 22 inches
Eight earthen vessels are displayed upon the ground near the adobe structures. These Pots and bowls display beautiful patterns and artistry. One, made by the Sia has an intricate bird design. The other pots are from Cochiti and each display floral or abstract designs. Often the pots are a product of two women working together, especially in the case of the Sia which is known for its excellence in earthenware. This was photographed by Edward Curtis in 1925 and is now on display in our Aspen Gallery.
