Description by Edward Curtis: Young horseman are coming toward the Sun-dance encampment with willows for the faster's sweat-lodge.

The sweat lodge is a hut, typically dome-shaped and made with natural materials, used by Indigenous peoples of the Americas for ceremonial steam baths and prayer. The riders in this photogravure are bringing materials in which to build the ceremonial lodge.
