Edward Curtis describes this piece as: Women watching the races on their annual ceremonial or feast day. It will be observed that they are all dressed uniformly in garments cut after the primitive mode. This is the 25th piece in “The North American Indian” a project which represents the final compilation of decades of field photography and research by Edward S. Curtis who labored under Morgan’s patronage for 23 years, from 1907 - 1930, to complete the series.
