This incredibly rare goldtone depicts a small camp among the pines on the reservation of the Flatheads in western Montana. The majestic Rocky Mountains are rising abruptly in the background. Flatheads had no tradition of lodges other than the buffalo skin tipis you see pictured here. IT is a moody day and there are many Natives about camp. This goldtone is in the original frame and has the studio sticker intact. There is also price tag on the back from Curtis’ studio that says $5.00. Printed in 1910 this piece is now available for sale in our Aspen Art Gallery.
