One of only two known examples of this goldtone to exist by Edward S. Curtis. During the last years of Curtis’ North American Indian project he was no longer receiving funding from J.P. Morgan. He had moved to Los Angeles and was given the opportunity to shoot photographs for Hollywood. This Goldtone is a movie still of Elmo Lincoln as Tarzan. Edward S. Curtis was able to make a little bit of extra money to help support the remaining days of his project. The Goldtone was made in 1920 and is now on display in our Aspen Art Gallery.

This goldtone photograph is in its original frame and was signed in the lower right corner: Edward S. Curtis.
