This Piegan Warrior, photographed by Edward S. Curtis was named Weasel Tail. He is wearing a large eagle feather headdress with multiple weasel tails hanging down from the sides. The Weasel tails were likely his medicine as he was named after them. He has a typical Piegan deerskin shirt and is wearing multiple necklaces. One necklace is a simpler bone and the more stand out piece of jewelry is a large grizzly-bear claw necklace.

Also pictured is a tomahawk pipe of Hudson's Bay Company origin. The photo was taken by Edward S. Curtis in 1900, right around the very beginning of his 30 year project The North American Indian. The image is printed on Dutch Van Gelder and is available for sale in our Aspen Art Gallery.
